Imphal, September 3, 2021 — Writers’ Forum Imphal observed its 34th Foundation Day at its office premises at Nagamapal Lamabam Leikai, Imphal, in compliance with the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The programme was presided over by Keisham Priyokumar, President of Writers’ Forum Imphal.
As part of the observance, members paid homage and offered floral tributes to departed members of the forum and distinguished literary figures who passed away during the year. Those remembered included Elangbam Sonamani, Lourembam Brojendrakumar, Jodhachandra Sanasam, R.K. Bidur, Thiyam Ibohal, Dr. Ibocha Soibam, Warepam Jugindro, Kesho Singh Irengba, Khuraijam Nimaicharan, Laishram Sadananda, and Rajkumar Jhaljit.
The occasion also marked the release of Punshi Amasung Tingkhang, a book authored by Irungbam Basanta. The publication was released as the 214th book published under the Writers’ Forum Imphal banner.
Dr. Wahengbam Kumari Chanu, Associate Professor, Manipur University, delivered a review and appreciation of the book, highlighting its literary significance and contribution to Manipuri literature.
The Foundation Day programme reaffirmed the forum’s continued commitment to promoting literary activities, preserving cultural heritage, and encouraging creative writing in Manipur.
